Lublin Jazz: Klawo
The band will present instrumental compositions inspired by funk, psychedelia, hip hop, jazz and afrobeat.
The origins of Klawo date back to the second half of 2019, when Konstanty Kostka was invited to arrange his producer EP Frądra for a concert organized by the Coastline Northern Cuts label – without the use of a sampler, but with the entire “live band”. After four months of searching and the first joint rehearsals, it turned out that the new arrangements and energy of each member gave the songs a completely new groove, and the spontaneity based on jazz improvisation made them start playing more and more and composing their own material together. In July 2022, Coastline Northern Cuts released the band’s debut album, simply titled – Klawo. Since then, the band has performed in most large cities in Poland, including festivals (including Up To Date Festival, Great September, Tak Głos Miasto, Sea You). The band also gave concerts in Slovakia (United Europe Jazz Festival) and Romania (Jazz in the Park). In March 2023, Klawo, as the only Polish band, became a finalist of the HEMI Music Awards program, an initiative helping artists from Central and Eastern Europe conquer the international stage. Klawo’s largely instrumental compositions draw inspiration from a variety of musical styles, including funk, psychedelia, hip hop, jazz and afrobeat, with plenty of room for improvisation.
