9. Lublin Jazz Festival / (Premiere!) New Polish Jazztet (PL/DK)
New Polish Jazztet is a special project set up on the occasion of the 9th Lublin Jazz Festival. After a well-received reinterpretations of cult “Polish Jazz” series , it’s time for another festival production. in 2017, an inspiration is the album “Polish Jazz Quartet” (Polskie Nagrania XL 0246), whose leaders were: Wojciech Karolak and Jan “Ptaszyn” Wroblewski. The material was released in 1965 as Vol. 3 “Polish Jazz” series. Album is an excellent proof that the Polish jazz was representing the highest world level at that time. The material, kept in the style of hard bop, delights with compositional ideas, great arrangements solutions and finesse of improvisation. Over the years, compositions of Karolak and Wroblewski gained the status of standards that inspire young students of jazz to present their artistic point of view. To interpret the album “Polish Jazz Quartet”, organizers invited an international group of musicians of the younger generation, who have already gained recognition in Poland and abroad of our country, they are:
Maciej Obara – sax
Max Mucha – double bass
Kuba Więcek – sax
Michał Miskiewicz – drums
Dominik Wania – piano
Samuel Blaser – trombone
