“JazzPo Winobraniu” – the title captures the essence of the project undertaken by Jazzpospolita which interpretes the music from one of the most interesting records in Zbigniew Namysłowski’s discography. “Winobranie” (Polish for grape harvest) is an outstanding album, until the present day recognized as a milestone of Polish jazz and a reference point to the next generations of musicians. Jazzpospolita – a quartet which for a few years now has been successfully combining different themes and inspirations – represents already the second generations. The experimental “Winobranie” and the eclectic Jazzpospolita – this fusion is an interesting proposition for both free jazz fans and those looking for new sounds in the improvised music.

Jazzpospolita approaches the interpretation of the works of Zbigniew Namysłowski with humility and bravado at the same time. In this music one can hear distinctive harmonies, odd, “broken” meters and melodies known from the original. However, Jazzpospolita wouldn’t be themselves if they haven’t combined all of that with post-rock nerve and fuzzy, ambient soundscapes. “We do not want to just play „Winobranie”. This music for us is a starting point in searches , we want to tell the story with our own language “- this is what the musicians themselves say about the project.
“Is this jazz or is it not jazz” – one might say, to paraphrase the title of one of the later Zbigniew Namysłowski’s albums. The answer to this question is not most important in this case, because good music speaks for itself, and the most interesting music is often created from the cross of the traditional and the modern.
