Karolina Błachnia Quartet – Dawn (Wschód
Karolina Błachnia Quartet is a band from Warsaw specializing in original jazz and improvised music. Its work is a mixture of emotion, reflection and free expression. The group is led by the charismatic leader, Karolina Błachnia, who is the vocalist and author of most of the compositions and lyrics. The quartet places special emphasis on artistic freedom, openness and a sense of community, which are the foundations of their musical philosophy.
The band’s debut album, “Dawn,” is a musical journey that captures frames and reflections on the world around them. The album was inspired by daily observations and the complexity of human emotions. Each song tells a story, referring to such feelings as joy, hope, sadness, grief or anger. All these emotions, the band emphasizes, rise with the sun, and music is their natural vehicle and means of expression.
The band quickly gained recognition on the Polish jazz scene. In 2023, the Karolina Błachnia Quartet won the prestigious Grand Prix award at the JAZZiNSPIRACJE competition at the 14th Lublin Jazz Festival, which was a great honor for young artists. In addition, Karolina herself was awarded in the first edition of the Wejazz Competition, where she presented her original works with the quartet. The year 2024 also brought the band a lot of success – they reached the finals of the prestigious 60th Jazz on the Oder competition in Wroclaw and were in the finals of the XXV Sax Club Jazz Review in Gdynia.
