Jazzpospolita has gone against the grain from the very beginning of its existence—defying associations, trends, and even its own name. By constantly balancing between genres, the band has managed to create its own distinctive sound. Post, avant, pre, trans, prog, soft, hard? Jazz, rock, ambient, minimal, trip-hop? It’s truly hard to list all the labels that have been attached to Jazzpo’s music. Can they all be tied together with a jazz bracket?

Jazzpo’s compositions—rich in harmony, dynamics, and melody—evolve depending on the needs of the moment. Thanks to this flexibility and diversity of sound, Jazzpospolita is warmly received on club stages, at festivals, and in concert halls alike.

“Kosmopolis” by Jazzpospolita is a sonic tale of five completely different stories unfolding in different places at the same time. Warsaw. The Old Town. Oviedo. Klunton. Polis. All take place in a bittersweet present heading into the unknown. In a contemporary reality where, more than ever before, what is new instantly becomes old. Open or closed? We ask questions and wait for answers.

“Perhaps idealistically, but in today’s media-driven, post-pop-cultural noise, we still want to believe in the power of music created from the need of the heart—its agency and its value for those who want not only to hear it, but to truly listen,” say the band members.
